Microsoft has integrated ChatGPT-like technology into its search engine Bing.

On Tuesday, February 7, 2023, in Redmond, Washington, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella gives a speech during the unveiling of the integration of the Microsoft Edge browser and Bing search engine with OpenAI. Microsoft is integrating ChatGPT-like technology into its search engine, Bing, turning it into a new means of connecting with artificial intelligence from one that now lags well behind Google.

Microsoft is incorporating the chatbot technology not just into Bing but also into its Edge browser.

Think of it as being constructed with technology from ChatGPT-maker OpenAI but optimized for search queries, said Yusuf Mehdi, a Microsoft official who oversees its consumer division, in an interview.

Tuesday saw the debut of a public preview of the new Bing for desktop users who sign up for it, but Mehdi predicted that in the next weeks, the technology will expand to millions of people and eventually appear in the Bing and Edge applications for smartphones. Everyone is now only allowed to do a certain amount of searches, he explained.

A notice that reads, "Bing is powered by AI, therefore surprises and blunders are conceivable," can be seen at the bottom of the preview of Bing's new homepage. Verify the facts, of course.
